What I'm about.

I want to start blogging more. A lot more. I want to become a better writer and I want people to read what I have to say. So I thought I'd start by introducing myself and giving a little bit of information on who I am and what kind of things I'll be talking about on this blog.

My name is Hayden Wiseman and I am 20 years old. I'm really into video games and Japanese culture. Now I know what you're thinking. You're thinking,"oh great. Another nerd ranting about things that no one cares about." That's not entirely the case. While I will be writing a bit about video games and the nerdier side of my life, I'll also be writing about trying to find enlightenment.

My interest's in Asian culture expand beyond video games, anime and manga. I've read the Hagakure, Go Rin No Sho (the Book of Five Rings), Sun Tsu's Art of War and countless haiku among other pieces of literature. I love Chinese and Japanese history but I'm a bit biased towards Japan because of their samurai. The samurai have been an interest of mine since I was very young and for a good part of my life Miyamoto Musashi has been one of my personal heroes. So, the point of this blog will mainly be a way for me to express my feelings on a number of pieces of Japanese literature and how they have influenced my life and secondly to geek out and have a good time.

More about me: I'm into martial arts and have practiced them most of my life (tae kwan do, karate, jiu jitsu, kajukenbo, etc) but I am currently out of practice (and shape) because I don't have the money to attend classes. As far as oriental weaponry goes I've always preferred the katana but I frequently practice with my nunchaku. I want to learn how to use a three sectional staff and tonfa.

I've said already that I'm into video games but to get more into that I prefer action titles. Two of my favorite game franchises are the Metal Gear Solid series and the Yakuza (know as Ryu ga Gotoku in Japan) series. I also read a number of comics which I won't get into just yet.

I'm in a relationship with a wonderful girl and I'm looking for work.
